Country Maternity Photos in Rockholds, Kentucky | John and Melissa

July 08, 2015  •  1 Comment

Most of the maternity sessions I usually have some type of room to plan and coordinate what and where I want to shoot.  With this session it's quite different, this session is about my first grandson.  Melissa and John asked me on a Saturday if we could do a photo shoot later that evening.  Of course I told them as long as weather permitting we can do one as I always try to accommodate.  Even though I only had a few hours to plan I was going to make it happen for them.

We started off with some props to begin with on an old country porch.  Since we live in the Appalachia this theme fits perfectly.  I wanted these photographs to have a different feel, not so much the standard purist look.

After getting the photographs of the props I started with John and Melissa.  Different poses were taken and I feel with such little time to plan the photos turned out great!  Sometimes the best photographs are the ones where you don't plan anything and capture the natural look of someone.  Often at times my best photographs are actually test shots when I'm telling my client to be normal for the first few shots as this is when I'm getting a reading.

Overall it was a great session and everyone had a splendid time.

This was my favorite shoot! This represents, not only our first grandson, but the first boy to our family! The photos display the joy of the situation. We had just found out the day before that we were going to have a boy. I love these photo and can't wait until Kevin can start taking photos of our grandbaby.
